Doll Space Guide · methodology

How this site works, and what it will not do

The short version: fixed rules, empty cells instead of invented numbers, enum-only anonymous data, no ability judgements, adults only.

What this site is

Doll Space Guide is a space, storage and handling planner for adults considering a first purchase. It answers one question: which product form direction — full-size, compact or torso — is worth comparing given your actual conditions, and what to verify before delivery.

It is not a shop, lists no products, and never judges physical ability, strength, or whether moving an item solo is advisable. Handling complexity here means how much planning a direction needs, nothing more.

How results are produced

The space check asks five questions with fixed enum answers (no free text) and applies a fixed priority: storage and delivery-route conditions are settled first — they can rule a form out entirely — before any form direction is issued. Every result carries its rule version and review date.

Current rules version: 1.0, last reviewed 2026-08-23. The routing lives in one pure function so verified product data can extend it without touching the interface.

Field sources and the product-data state

Checklist items come from categories of sources: seller policy and specification documents, maker care guidance, and standard logistics practice for large-parcel delivery. The site cites source types, not live listings.

No verified first-party product records exist yet, so the form comparison shows only which fields to compare and the direction of each trade-off — numeric cells stay empty rather than invented, and the SKU spec checker renders an explicitly labelled empty state. When dated ProductSpec data is connected, results will cite it and degrade to "ask the seller" whenever packed dimensions, net weight or packed weight are missing.

Anonymous session and events

The space check stores your five enum answers in sessionStorage; the specification checklist stores tick-marks in localStorage under this site's key alone — clearing it never touches other sites. No names, addresses, free text, or anything in URLs.

Self-hosted Umami page-view analytics (um.dollhelp.com) runs on this site — cookieless, no personal data, no cross-site tracking. Custom tool events, if connected later, stay enum-only: site and tool identifiers, result type and checklist states. Individual answers never leave the browser.

Editorial and commercial relationships

This site is maintained by a small editorial team. Companion tool sites (first-purchase path, material, budget) are sibling projects under the same ownership and are labelled as companion tools wherever they appear.

No seller, brand or product pays for placement here. If commerce links are added after first-party product data exists, they will be labelled and dated on this page first.

Limits of this tool

A space result is a planning direction, not a guarantee that any product fits, is light, or is easy to move — those are properties of specific products with specific numbers, which is exactly what the checklist asks you to collect.

Content is written for adults only. The site carries an adult content rating and uses no imagery or language sexualizing minors, ambiguous ages, or school contexts.

Visual base and imagery

The layout is migrated from the free Property Next.js template (kept for audit in template-source/). The blueprint room-plan graphics are original vector work owned by this project.

public/images/research-preview/ holds twenty-two third-party collected product photos used only as local preview placeholders, selected from the research library by filtering for full-size (160cm+) listings with adult descriptors and excluding any record suggesting minors, school or age-coded contexts, head-only products and close-up portraits. They carry generic filenames and one generic alt text, expose no product name, price, rating, seller, link or source, and must be replaced with properly licensed first-party imagery before any public release.
